Gujarat Industrial Hackathon begins at AURO University
78 teams of 435 participants to find solutions of various industrial problems in the Regional Round during 19 and 20 February.
More than 400 students from various institutes of South Gujarat have started deliberating on the various industrial problem in the regional round of Gujarat Industrial Hackathon at the AURO University. The hackathon will end on 20th February. The event is being organized in collaboration with the Education Department of Government of Gujarat under the Student Start up and Innovation Policy.
The hackathon participants will be having mentoring from 80 mentors. Welcoming the participants at the university dean Prof. Rohit Singh introduce the philosophy of AURO University. Mr. Kamlesh Yagnik, Chief Resilience Officer of Surat Climate Change Trust, in his inaugural address encouraged students to take up problem solving ability as a part of their continuous growth in life. He started his speech with an inspirational poem written by Hindi poet Sohanlan Dwivedi, which says that one who does efforts tirelessly would never fail.
He said, “I want that this hackathon should be lifelong for you. One of the meaning is to hack is to explore as well.” He added that big companies like Google, Skype have been benefitted from the events like hackathon.
He also gave local examples of students providing innovative solutions to the basic problems. He informed that in one of the hackathon events organized in Rajkot had suggested model of reducing water loss of Rajkot Municipal Corporation, which had floated tender of Rs. 6 Crore for the solution and students had come with the solution costing Rs. 30 lakh only.
Mr. Yagnik also talked about how a young man Nishith Chashmawala from Surat has successfully suggested innovative solution of adult diapers to the elderly people’s needs.

AURO Public Lecture Series was organized on the auspicious occasion of Basant Panchami on February 10, 2019 at Science Center, Citylight from 10:30 AM for the erudite members of the city of Surat to meet the best minds of India. The speaker for its 1st Public Lecture was Prof. R Vaidynathan, Former Professor of finance and control at IIM Bangalore. His topic for the public talk was “Global Economic Crisis- Prospects for India”.
After the pious rendition of Guru vandana, Dean Dr. Rohit Singh welcomed the guests and explained the vision and mission of AURO University with different aspects of teaching and learning for academic progress. He also explained the four aspects of education and twelve core values on which the ethos of AURO University is laid. He briefly mentioned different schools, programs, specializations and scholarships offered by AURO University. Inaugural Remarks were made by Honorable Vice Chancellor Dr. Avadhesh Kumar Singh. He explained that AURO Public Lecture series is a humble endeavor for the purpose of creation, application and dissemination of knowledge and new ideas. He also announced the opening of two new schools namely School of Education and School of Sciences in the forthcoming academic year. Further, Dr. Meghna Dangi introduced Dr. R. Vaidynathan and elucidated his experience, achievement and expertise.
Dr. R. Vaidynathan started his speech on a light note and with gratitude to all the listeners. He discussed the changes and transformation in teaching-learning methods. He discussed how the rest of the world, especially Europe was under tremendous crisis and how this could be a great Opportunity for India. He mentioned that India was among the world’s top economies till 1820 and hence he coined the term “Re-emerging economy” for India. With well researched analyses of GDP, PPP, Debt percentages, government borrowings he mentioned the importance of household savings, age old family values and need of our own indicators to shape our economy rather than depending on any western model. In his signature simple, lucid and humorous style, he busted the myths of employment, savings, share market, gold as Investment Avenue and FII & FDI. The Session was opened for interaction with the audience wherein some interesting deliberations took place. Head of School of Business Dr. Monika Suri felicitated the Guest with a memento and the “Life Divine” by Sri Aurobindo and Registrar Mr. Ajay Yadav made an expression of Gratitude to the Guest for his insightful lecture and gracious presence.
